sg Source code?

 yum install sg3_utils.i386
This is used for the sg group command.
Using the sg_inq -a /dev/cdrom command , I could get the serial number of my cdrom.
But in windows I also write one programm to get the serial number, and Strange thing happens.
In Windows the Serial number is all number, but in linux serial number contains not only numbers but
also characters. That mean the same device may have different serial number ? Maybe not ,so I think
the problem is on the programm I wrote.
