Amanita flavoconia Atkinson Chicken Patches Cap 3-7cm across, egg-shaped at first, again accretion to arched or collapsed with umbo; ablaze chicken to orange, with baby ablaze chicken blind bits about advance over surface; allowance of cap after adorable grooves. Gills chargeless or hardly adnexed, crowded; white or with aside even of yellow. Axis 50-100 X 5-15mm, white to yellow, with bloated basal bulb, covered on lower bisected with chicken floccose-crumbly blind fragments; with bleary white or chicken ring. Flesh white, unchanging. Odor slight, pleasant. Spores ovate-elliptic, smooth, amyloid, 7-8(9) x 4.5-5. Deposit white. Habitat in alloyed woods. Actual common. Found in a lot of of eastern North America. Season July-October. Edibility ambiguous - best avoided. Comment A lot of acceptable to be abashed with the abundant rarer Amanita frostiana, which differs in its striate cap margin, nonamyloid, annular spores, and generally marginate basal ball of stem. My third pictures shows a actual white albino form. The acreage photograph was taken by Buck McAdoo.
