This year, some small-and-medium-sized enterprises chose to place their booths in a hotel room not far away from a job fair in Jinan, Shandong Province, Xinhua News Agency reported.
Fu Zhenyu, manager of an IT company in Shandong Province, said they need to talk to students to know whether they are suitable for the positions. And students feel respected when employers make time to talk to them, Fu said.
Some students have also taken it upon themselves to hold their own major-specific job fairs.
Xiao Han, a senior electrical engineering and automation major at Hubei University of Technology, chose not to attend the job fairs his classmates attended. Instead, last Sunday, he organized a job fair for students in his department.
Han sent invitations to over 600 companies in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. In the end, 189 companies were present, including the multinational company Siemens.
"I think university graduates can be more proactive. If the companies don't come for us, we can reach out to them," Han said.
