I wore a suit everyday for work (Mon Fri) and on Sunday for Church until everything in America started going "office casual" in the late 90s. Started going to a new Church in that wanted you to come casual. My company started "office casual" Fridays in and became completely "office casual" on in after that I only wore a suit to weddings, funerals, and when visiting a client where they weren on the office casual bandwagon.

In 2005 I moved to Thailand. "Professional attire" in most things here is dress slacks, short sleeve dress shirt, and a tie, and no jacket. and shoes that can at least pass for dress shoes, though loafers and the like are fine . and some try to get away with black sneakers. Suits are for the elite and their entourage who work in sequestered super cooled offices they keep them at about 50 degrees!

I am 51 years old, live in Manhattan and Long Island. I wear a suit and tie about 4 days a week. The following is my opinion only from my experience as I work and travel Internationally. Please do not take offense and I am not trying to be a Proper dress on a man dictates a number of things. If he can afford it a custom suit is a must. Custom Dress shirt pressed properly ( no wrinkles )and it must have French cuffs when wearing a suit otherwise it is NOT a dress shirt. A nice watch is a must. Preferably Rolex, Breitling, Patek Philippe or anything compatible. Well shined shoes ( not too shiny )that do not have heel and sole damage. BTW never wear black shoes with a blue suit ( bad form ). Always British tan or brown. He should always have a pocket square in his suit or sport jacket. Always carry a hank in his pants. Always carry matches or a lighter preferably Dupont or Dunhill, just to always be prepared if he needs to assist someone who needs a light or he smokes himself. Never carry bulky items in pockets that protrude. Carry cash and credit card in a money clip or Band so it is sleek. This will ensure confidence, show others that you take pride in yourself and that you are serious about what you are doing. People will pay attention and be impressed! This is how an elegant man dresses! Hope I answered your question.

A hank is a handkercheif which should be a very fine soft cotton carried in ones trouser pocket. Used in case you need to discreetly wipe your nose, wipe lipstick off your face or give to a lady in need for any reason. This is different from the pocket square (similar to a that should be worn in a gentleman suit jacket (outside pocket) for show and the pocket square is usually but not always silk. I prefer only silk for that purpose. I hope this clears things up for you Lady A! lol Have a god one. Best, Jonathan

That no BS. Picture is only 3 months old. No one believes me from any of my pictures. I honestly look like I am 30 35 years old and I really can explain that but it true. I have tons of trouble dating because women in their mid 40 and early 50 think I look too young and frankly the younger women are most times not mature enough for my taste. It really a bitch. When I go to work I gel my hair in a different style that is professional looking, I get a lot of compliments on my hair and have had it long since I was a child. I do wear a suit every day to work. I wear jeans and tee shirts on the weekends or when relaxing. I have three Daughters age 24, 22 and 13. I was adopted as an infant and all I know is my heritage is French and a bit of Irish. So I guess it good genes. Go figure!please state age and country please note
