hacmp关于远程复制这部分一直在改进,但实际用的情况很少. 有几个GEORM and HAGEO and GLVM and HACMP/XD GLVM名词需要清楚.
HACMP/XD (Extended Distance) Geographic Logical Volume Manager (GLVM) delivers enhanced business continuity support via:
HACMP™/XD GLVM is a new, software-based technology for mirroring mission-critical data over standard TCP/IP networks. HACMP/XD GLVM, IBM's solution for geographic backup and disaster recovery for IBM pSeries® servers, supports AIX® 5L logical volumes to help keep your business running. HACMP/XD GLVM is simpler and easier to use than the existing HACMP/XD HAGEO software-based technology and is better suited to the application workloads that typically run on today's pSeries servers.
HACMP/XD GLVM helps you maintain business continuity via real-time data mirroring and automated failover/failback. That means near-instantaneous disaster recovery and availability for your mission-critical applications.
HACMP/XD GLVM exploits IP to enable one or two copies of an AIX 5L logical volume to be located at a remote site separated by unlimited distance, thus allowing for automated failover to that remote site with minimal risk of loss of any data. HACMP/XD GLVM can manage replication, synchronization, and recovery of new or existing AIX 5L logical volumes. With the new, easier-to-use interface, the complexities of managing HAGEO mirror copy synchronization are replaced by the existing LVM functions of AIX 5L.
HACMP V5 provides an excellent high availability solution for pSeries servers, providing automated failover and failback within a local site. HACMP/XD takes the business-critical function provided by HACMP V5 and extends it by adding remote data mirroring and supporting failover and failback to sites at unlimited distances.
When you include HACMP/XD, nothing can stop your business.
HACMP V5.2 on AIX 5L V5.3
April 15, 2005: With requisite AIX 5L V5.3 PTFs
The HACMP/XD product provides several high availability technologies that extend the business-critical reliability function provided by HACMP V5 to support sites that are geographically distant from each other. Previously, HACMP/XD included Peer-to-Peer Remote Copy (PPRC) and IP-based mirroring (HAGEO).
HACMP/XD Geographic Logical Volume Manager (GLVM) is a new IP-based mirroring technology. HACMP/XD GLVM data replication is built upon AIX 5L's Logical Volume Manager (LVM), using it to drive replication and synchronization of AIX logical volumes. HACMP/XD takes the business-critical function provided by HACMP V5 and extends it to support sites that are geographically distant from each other.
HACMP/XD GLVM supplements, and is intended to replace, the current HACMP/XD HAGEO IP-based mirroring function. HACMP/XD GLVM provides essentially the same function with greater usability, reliability, and performance. HACMP/XD GLVM is integrated with AIX 5L's LVM instead of being separate from it, as with current HACMP/XD HAGEO IP-based mirroring. As a result, the HACMP/XD GLVM user need not size, create, nor manage separate "state maps" as previously required with the current HACMP/XD "HAGEO" IP-based mirroring.
Because of its tight integration with LVM, the HACMP/XD GLVM user need only configure an AIX remote pseudo-device driver to define the remote physical volume; the complexities of managing HACMP/XD state maps and mirror copy synchronization are handled by the existing LVM functions of AIX 5L. The HACMP/XD GLVM user needs to configure geographically distant disks as "remote physical volumes" and then combine those remote physical volumes with local physical volumes to form "geographically mirrored volume groups," which are managed by the AIX 5L LVM just like ordinary volume groups. Users who are already familiar with HACMP and AIX 5L LVM should find HACMP/XD GLVM easy to learn.
HACMP/XD GLVM enables one or two copies of an AIX logical volume to be located at remote sites separated by unlimited remote distances, thus allowing automated failover to and failback from that remote site without loss of data.
HACMP V5 provides an excellent high availability solution for pSeries servers, providing automated failover and failback within a local site. Support for Dynamic LPARs, Capacity Upgrade on Demand (CUoD), and Capacity Backup (CBU) is included for POWER4™ and POWER5™ (APAR service required). With the addition of HACMP/XD in all its forms (Peer-to-Peer Remote Copy [PPRC], HAGEO, and GLVM), it provides customizable, easy-to-use data mirroring and availability services between PPRC sites or geographically distant sites or logical volumes connected by a standard IP-based network. The PPRC and HAGEO functions of HACMP/XD remain unchanged.
In Appendix C of the HACMP/XD for Geographic LVM Planning and Administration Guide , HACMP/XD for GLVM and HAGEO are compared in terms of mapping of their components, terminology, major functions, and configuration. Also, a migration procedure from HAGEO to HACMP/XD for GLVM is included. Customers who are currently using HAGEO and are planning a switch to HACMP/XD for GLVM should refer to this guide.

The prospective customer for HACMP/XD solutions is any enterprise or organization with requirements to keep business-critical applications and systems operational 7 days per week, 24 hours per day. An HACMP solution provides the means to recover from any unplanned server hardware or application failures, and also gives you the means to take down an individual server (node) for planned maintenance and upgrades without having to take down the entire cluster.
High availability and business continuity is a growing business need across all industries. HACMP and HACMP/XD are designed to help protect you from loss of data or services during planned or unplanned outages. The following industries are prime candidates and opportunities for HACMP solutions:
The HACMP/XD feature is a must for clients with business-critical data who want to mirror data between separate sites to enable and automate cross-site disaster recovery and failover. This applies to businesses of any size, with multiple sites or regional operations, or wherever decentralization of data is desired. HACMP/XD is an attractive, affordable high availability solution for small and medium-sized enterprises, and for small and medium-sized business units of large enterprises. High availability should be a fundamental buying criterion for business-critical and on demand applications.
In addition to providing high availability, HACMP can also be configured to provide loosely coupled multiprocessing services. These configurations allow workloads to be spread across multiple pSeries systems, sharing the disk and processor resources of the clustered nodes. This clustered approach, along with the capability of application failover and recovery/restart of the HACMP V5 configured machine, offers additional levels of high availability processing for customer-critical environments. The Concurrent Resource Manager function of HACMP provides an open API that applications can utilize to get concurrent access to a shared disk.
Positioning of HACMP relative to other cluster servers: HACMP is a robust offering for mission-critical availability for up to 32 nodes. It is IBM's strategic high availability offering designed and tuned for pSeries servers running AIX 5L.
