Journey to the Coast where I was born

By Jesse Zhou 10  years old,  California, USA

Day one:

On that day, we went to New York for our vacation. Our tour guide, Jason, brought us to hotel Sheraton. The traffic was huge! I can’t complain though, since it is one of the elements of New York. We had to wait for two hours! When we got to the hotel, my brother, Derek, and my grandma, (We call her Popo in Chinese) and I shared the same room. We ordered dinner at the Chinese restaurant in New York, but had to wait a damn

long time for the food (sorry for the bad word), so we told them to cancel it and we began our night tour in New York. We saw a HUGE Christmas tree, maybe the size of our 2-story house, which is big! Since we didn’t eat dinner, we ate at the McDonalds in Time-square. I ordered chicken selects. =) After time square, our tour bus took to a couple more streets, and then we went back to Sheraton at approximately midnight.

Day two:

We explored more of New York and went to famous places like Walstreet. We also went on a carrier. I wanted to ride one of the stimulator rides, but we ran out of time and had to go back to the bus. We also went on a boat, actually a “sub-tour” and saw some old places, such as a sugar-factory that opened in the fifties (for all you sweet tooth people, it closed last year) to the well-forgotten Governors Island. We also saw many other unusual places such as the port the titanic would’ve land. I would expect it to be snowing, but it didn’t. After we explored New York, we went to Pennsylvania, which took a long, long time. We slept at a nice hotel just along the border of Pennsylvania.

Day three:

We were actually going to Philadelphia, just to see one site. The site, however, was the famous liberty bell. We learned about it, and then we took a two-hour drive to D.C. We went the Vietnam monument (the wall thing), Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, which for some reason, is under construction. We also went to the air and space museum, where my dad, my grandma, and I explored. I bought a T-shirt that is way too big for me now. We went to a hotel and slept.

Day four:

The whole bloody day, we traveled to Buffalo. Which took seven hours to get there. This bus ride kind of pissed me off. We stopped to eat for lunch at this food court and continued. We went to visit this glass museum along the way. I bought this weird flashing rainbow thing. In Buffalo, we ate dinner ate this buffet which ,in my opinion, sucked. Then we went to the hotel and settled. We did another night-tour, this time, to Canada. We had to cross the border. It was kinda weird. We also went to the famous Skylon Tower. Up on the tower, it was like hell, only instead of hot, cold. So cold. We saw Niagara Falls. In different colors because the air thickness made in red, green, and blue. It was worth it. After we got down, we just played in the snow (yes, there was snow) and took pictures.

Day five:

We were going back to California. I swear, even the blazing storms over here aren’t even close to the freezing weather there. We went in the afternoon, but in the morning, we saw the Niagara Falls… UP CLOSE! It was amazing. Also very high. We took many pictures. Then, we went on the plane and I caught my final glimpse of snow… and then we went to Chicago. We had to take two flights. At Chicago, we ate and we board the plane. But there was a two-hour delay, which sucked, and then another fifteen-minute delay. Finally, we flew in the air and we got home.
