Upon completion of this module, you should be able to:
Identify the Sun StorEdge A3500 and A3500FC Arrays
Describe the Sun StorEdge A3500 RAID controllers functions
Identify the Sun StorEdge A3500 and A3500FC RAID controller differences
Identify the components of the Sun StorEdge A3500 Array storage system
Describe the Sun StorEdge D1000 Array components
Describe the Sun StorEdge A1000 RAID controller function
Describe the differences between the Sun StorEdge A1000 Array and the Sun StorEdge D1000 Arrays
Sun StorEdge A3500 RAID Controller Module
Dual RAID controller for redundancy
High-availability storage solution
A3500FC with a Fibre Channel option
Dual 40 Mbyte/second interface(A3500)
Dual 100 Mbyte/second interface(A3500FC)
Redundant power and cooling
Supports up to five D1000 storage arrays in one rack
Thermal Sensing Unit
Both power supplies have a build-in temperature sensor that prevents the power supplies from overheating. If a temperature sensor detects an over-temperature condition, the overheated power supply automatically shuts down. The other power supply remains on as long as the temperature remains below the over-temperature threshold.
Each device attached to a SCSI bus must have a unique ID number to communicate. For the Sun StorEdge A3x00 controller module, the SCSI ID of Controller 1(top) must be 5, and the SCSI ID of Controller 2(bottom) must be 4.
