The Hoosier Society, in conjunction with Purdue Extension and the Indiana State Department of Health, has announced dates for 2015 morel mushroom certification courses.
These new courses will allow individuals, chefs, business owners and others who have an interest in selling wild mushrooms in Indiana to become certified in the proper identification and food handling requirements for select species. The spring course will cover morel mushroom species Morchella sp.
Indiana code requires that all wild mushrooms that are sold in the state to be “individually inspected and found to be safe by a mushroom identification expert.”
