The fluid flow field in the cyclone 

Distribution of liquid flow field (expressed in streamline) is symmetrical in hydrocyclone, the velocity of any point of which can be decomposed into tangential velocity, radial velocity and axial velocity in hydrocyclone.


Streamline drawing is verified through numerous trials, as shown Figure 8-2. First, There are two basic co-rotating stream in hydroclone: one is a conical spiral downward along the outer cyclone (from the bottom to the common apex of cone ) ; the other is a conical spiral upward along the inner cyclone (from the common apex of cone the conical bottom). When the outer swirl into the hole approach the sediment bore, it will be divided into two parts: one part with sand isolated flow out through the sediment bore; the other part, changing the flow direction, flow upward, which forms the inner swirl. In the lower part of the overflow pipe, converse outer and inner swirl form a closed-loop eddy current. As The eddy current rotates around the axis of the hydrocyclone , the inside spiral flow upward the upper cover while lateral spiral flows downward the desilting hole. In addition, the downstream of the cover is mainly composed of drilling fluid that is not processed by the cyclone.Firstly it flows under the cover, and then flow into the overflow tube.
