Nielsen spent the past two seasons at Northern Illinois under Doeren. This year, Nielsen was the codefensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator and defensiveline coach.
Before coaching at Northern Illinois, Nielsen worked as an assistant at TennesseeMartin and Mississippi. Nielsen, 33, was an allconference defensive lineman at Southern California. State hired Doeren from Northern Illinois last weekend, fewer than 24 hours after he guided the Huskies to a second consecutive MidAmerican Conference championship. A West Liberty player has been arrested on charges related to a slaying in Florida. Marshal Chad Simpson in Wheeling said Vernon Dunnom, 24, was arraigned in Ohio County Magistrate Court on Friday on charges of firstdegree homicide, attempted homicide and two counts of robbery.
Simpson said two people were shot, ,one fatally, during a robbery Nov. 17 in Miami Gardens, Fla.
A warrant for Dunnom's arrest was issued out of MiamiDade County.
Dunnom is being held at the Northern Regional Jail in Moundsville pending an extradition hearing. Jail records didn't indicate whether Dunnom had an attorney.
Dunnom is a junior defensive end and running back from Pittsburg, Calif. He appeared in four games for West Liberty this season.
Auburn introduces both coordinators
AUBURN, Ala. New Auburn coach Gus Malzahn was introduced his new offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee, and defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson on Friday.
Lashlee, 29, will make $350,000 a year while Johnson, 60, received an $800,000 salary, though Auburn hasn't released the lengths of their deals or other terms.
