Tired of the same old men watch designs? Curious about what shaking up the watch industry? Join the club. That why AskMen hopped over to Switzerland to discover the latest watch trends. This week in Geneva, many of the world premier watchmakers gathered to present their for 2011 at the Geneva Time Exhibition (GTE) and the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH). These exclusive, invitation only exhibitions are the first chance for journalists and retailers to see the products that will be shaping each brand over the next 12 months. Here we run through five of the hottest watches we discovered, with the cream of the crop coming from the SIHH.

JLC Reverso Ultra Thin The JLC to 1931 Reverso may be the watch getting all the attention this year, but the standard production model may wear even better. On the wrist it is tall (46 mm high) but very thin. To me, with its black leather strap and white textured dial, it like a tuxedo for your wrist. It is pure class, and those around you know you mean business. This is the 80th anniversary of the Reverso, and this may be the best one yet. The only downside (to some) is that it must be manually wound.

Piaget Emperador Coussin Tourbillon Automatic This large, 10.2 mm thick watch is incredibly wearable for a piece that costs around With the world thinnest automatic tourbillon, it takes away the bulk typically associated with the spinning carriage of the tourbillon. Add that to the micro rotor placed right in front of the dial, and you have one of the most visually grasping wristwatches I ever seen. It will certainly attract attention despite being as thin as your average manual wind, but when someone asks what it is, you be able to tell them it the world thinnest. A truly remarkable watch to wear.

IWC Portofino Dual Time This may just be a new addition to the all purpose watch category. It is fantastically simple and pure, but with the added benefit of having a second time zone function that can be set using the crown. It is a large watch 45 mm so you need to have a man wrist size to wear it, but it is by no means too large. The white dial against a black alligator strap is a nice touch, making it a watch you can wear just about anywhere. Because it made by IWC, you know it built to last, and it a hell of a lot cooler than wearing a modern Rolex.

A. Lange Sohne Zeitwerk Striking Time Among watch aficionados, the Zeitwerk is one of the most praised timepieces of the last five years. The Striking Time takes the digital display (powered mechanically, of course) of the traditional Zeitwerk and adds two hammers to allow the watch to chime the time on the hour. It does not have to be activated like a minute repeater; it will simply chime on its own. This large watch is incredibly comfortable to wear for its immense complexity, and one that will give you instant street cred.

Ralph Lauren Sporting Chronograph Guilloche Dial 39 mm This watch was introduced last year, but now it back with a guilloche dial. This is an excellent dress chronograph and is perfectly elegant at 39 mm. This watch is an amazing wear because it is rather small, and on the wrist it has great presence, especially in bright light where you can see all the work that went into the dial. This is really a stunning chronograph from Ralph Lauren. There aren many chronographs you can wear with a tuxedo, but this is definitely one you can. With elegance and sportiness in a watch, the woman in your life will certainly approve.Men's Watch Trends
