易纲称，中国在欧洲金融市场是一个长期的、稳定的、持续的投资者；中国支持欧盟、欧洲央行及国际货币基金组织(IMF)在处理危机时采取的一系列措施，并在取得欧洲统一的情况下，积极参与欧洲金融市场稳定。

截至2010年末，我国外汇储备余额已超过2.8万亿美元，易纲称，中国外汇储备的投资原则是并致力于在全球金融市场进行多元化投资。

分析认为，欧元将是替代美元的主要投资选择，近期已经承诺购买西班牙和葡萄牙等国公共债务。但早些时候，易纲曾表示，中国不会披露其购买西班牙国债的具体规模，是因为不希望影响金融市场。

易纲是在随行国务院副总理李克强在欧洲访问时，做如上表示的。
