Having never been a big fan of typical beach decor
We don't get away much and rarely is it just the two of
whenever us, so it was a much needed break, but as is almost always the case, work was involved. My husband pursued post active duty Army employment and I shopped or, as I like to call it: Market research.
As we went around to thrift shops and boutiques, it was painfully obvious we were "at the beach." You couldn't swing a small fishing net without scooping up tropical fish, banana leaf and shell motifs.
Having never been a big fan of typical beach decor, I was pleased to find my friend was holding onto her pre-Florida furnishings. Their old brown leather sofa and antique German wardrobe have a prominent presence in their new home. She's blending these items with rattan and wicker furnishings and accents, which meet the needs for a "lighter" feeling warm climate decor.
