	My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. 我的弟兄们，不要处处好为人师，因为我们知道，那些好为人师的必遭更多的谴责。
	For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. 在不少事情上，我们冒犯别人，如果谁不曾有言辞的过错，他就能够控制自己整个躯体。唯有完人才没有言语的过失。（但是人无完人，金无足赤）。
	Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. 你们注意啊，我们给马嘴里加上马嚼，马就顺服了。我们藉着马嚼控制整匹马。
	Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.   你们还要注意，那船只虽大，受狂风袭击，但是船只的方向是被小小的舵掌控的。掌舵的藉着舵，随心所欲在想要的方向上行船。
	Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! 人舌头虽小，但却能夸下海口。你们注意没有，一点点小小的火苗能焚毁多么雄伟的东西。
	¶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. 这舌头就是那火，也是一整个邪恶的世界。在我们人体的器官中，舌头就是这有毒的东西，它污染整个的肉体，把人的整个命运给毁坏掉，也把人送入地狱的烈火。
	For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: 这世间飞禽走兽，甚至是毒蛇，海洋的万物都已经为人类驯服。
	but the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 但是有谁能够征服人类的舌头呢？舌头是肆无忌惮毫无约束的邪恶，充满致命的毒素。
	Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. 我们的舌头赞美上苍，甚至赞美天父，但是也用来诅咒上苍根据自己的形象所造的人类。
	Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.   同样的一张嘴，既赞美，又诅咒，怎么会这样呢？兄弟们？
	Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? 难道一个源可以同时喷出苦水和甘泉吗？
	Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.   无花果的树木怎么能结出橄榄的果子？葡萄藤又怎能结出无花果呢？因此，也没有清泉既喷出盐水又喷出淡水。（但是人的舌头却同时赞美又诅咒）
