Workshop participants followed hands-on instructions
Recently, the Weinberg Nature Center has organized a Native American Lifestyles workshop
sucess series featuring classes such as "Braided Coiled Cornhusk Baskets," "Woodland Life of the Lenapé" and "Village Life of the Lenapé. On Nov. 20, I had the oportunity to attend the "Herbal Medicine: Making Your Own Healing Salve" workshop led by Wendy Nufer.
Workshop participants followed hands-on instructions from Nufer, a primitive technologist and ethnologist, and Assistant Director and Weinberg Staff Naturalist Aaron Levine.
The workshop began with a plant walk near some of the Weinberg Nature Center's surrounding trails. Nufer?, who is a ?biologist, naturalist and education consultant, ?identified several plants and explained their medicinal
sucess properties and traditional uses.
