Conductors hand small cards with a reminder about the rules to loud passengers NJ Transit started experimenting with quiet cars, a concept pioneered by Amtrak, earlier this fall. Passengers sitting in the first and last car on some express trains between Trenton and New York’s Penn Station are asked to turn down video games and music, stay off cellphones and keep conversations quiet.
