Vora said she would never forget the pain associated
As they prayed for the victim's of the Sept. 11 attacks, they
however also asked for peace and an end to Islamophobia.Vigil organizer Shamina Vora said, "It's easy to see us as something separate, people who are not connected to 9/11. Yes we are. This is our country."
Vora organized the candlelight vigil a week ago. She said as the debate over an Islamic center near ground zero continues she believes there is a growing fear of Muslims and feelings that they are not true Americans.Vora said, "We needed to put controversies behind us and remind each other this is about America. As a Muslim American it is a very sad day. I have never had any extremist views In no way do I associate 9/11 with myself/."
