We started selling Christmas items
When the glass double doors are unlocked on Saturday, it will
however mark the 41st year that Davis has hawked his high-end holiday wares to avid Christmas decor shoppers from nearby and across the state.
"We were the first people in this part of the world to have this type of place," he said Monday, exuberantly touting the selling points of the countless knickknacks in his store."It was an interesting thing," he said. "We started selling Christmas items, and over the years our merchandise has taken on a completely different look. We really focus on the high-end and the unusual. Now, if anything new gets out on the market, we'll try to have it."
In recent days, Davis' staff of designers has busily scrambled to unpack and meticulously place and align almost 25,000 decorative items available for purchase. In turn, they've transformed the store at 2822 W. Erwin St. into such a grand Christmas landscape -- wreathed in ornaments, lights and ornate nutcrackers -- that Tchaikovsky and Hoffman would question their contributions to the holiday season.
