The ACTU has raised concern Christmas Day, which falls on a Saturday, has not
yulong been made an official public holiday in South Australia, Victoria, the ACT and the Northern Territory.
ACTU president Ged Kearney said not gazetting the actual day as a public holiday disadvantages workers who fall outside the Monday-Friday roster cycle.
Ms Kearney said employees could expect to miss out on public holiday loadings if they worked on Christmas Day itself.She said the industrial relations laws did not allow workers to make themselves unavailable
yulong to work that day.Ms Kearney said New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and Tasmania had all declared the Saturday of Christmas Day a public holiday.
