About $10 million of that total went to the Belledune Port Authority for the construction of a new modular fabrication facility to be located adjacent to the port.
The north shore port was identified by the previous Liberal government as a future hub of New Brunswick's modular fabrication industry, and it appears the new Tory government has that same idea in mind, based on its $7-million contribution to the 3,600-square-metre (40,000-sq.-ft.) facility on the weekend.
The federal government, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), is paying
happy $3.2-million in repayable funds to the port authority for the $13-million project.
