Everybody’s trying to save a buck these days. There are several ways you can go about managing your budget, and if you’re diligent, you might save a little moola as well. But if clipping coupons and counting your pennies isn’t a feasible solution for you, here are a few mobile apps that will have you laughing all the way to the bank.

 – Call and text anywhere in the world for free. I know it sounds too good to be true, and there are a few mobile apps out there that make this claim, but I’m telling you from experience Viber is your best bet. Just yesterday I was chatting with one of my besties who lives in Australia and I couldn’t believe how good our connection was. It sounded like she was in the next room! No delay, no shotty connection.

 – When I first heard about WhatsApp, I remember it being really popular among my friends who were transitioning from Blackberry to iPhone. It was a sort of weaning mechanism for people who couldn’t live without BBM. With push notifications enabled, it behaves quite similarly to Blackberry’s BBM in that you can have an instant chat at no additional cost. If your mobile plan doesn’t include unlimited text, this is a great option. If you’re chatting with someone overseas, you won’t rack up those pesky text fees either. Another appealing feature is that you can see when someone is online and if they’ve opened your message or not.

– I’ve been using the Groupon app for about a year now, and although some of the deals that come through are not at all appealing, I still subscribe for those few gems that arise. If you’re not familiar with the web version, Groupon is a deal sharing website. If enough people purchase a Groupon for a given discount, the deal is on. If not, you’re off the hook. I’m hoping Groupon will make their deals more targeted in the future, but for now it’s worth subscribing and you can purchase deals directly via the app.

 - If you’re an avid traveler like me, you’ll be very familiar with Kayak.com. If not, you should download this app and check it out. Kayak allows you to compare flight and hotel prices so you can snag the best deal. It also has superior search filtering to provide you with the best results, and it allows you to track your flights to help you stay on top of your itinerary.

– Dining out with the family can get a little pricey, so wouldn’t it be cool to search for restaurants in your close vicinity that offer free meals for the kids? KidsEatFor is an easy-to-use app that helps you find restaurants in your area offering free or discounted kid’s meals. You can usually get a look at the menu as well, which is great for those of you with picky eaters to please.
