as to 的功能类似于 with regard to,regarding,on the matter of,concerning等,常用于相当正式的语境中,尤其用于争论和做出决定时。可放于句首或与wh-疑问词引导的动词不定式和名词性从句连用(有时可省略),而as for无此种用法。

A、引导主语从句并在句首时不用if

Whether we go there is not decided.我们是否去那里还没决定。

B、引导表语从句时不用if。:

The question is whether we can get there on time.问题是我们能否按时到达那里。

C、引导同位语从句时不用if

He asked me the question whether the work was worth doing.

他问我这个问题,那项工作是否值得做。

D、在介词后引导宾语从句不用if

I’m thinking about whether we’ll have a meeting.我在考虑我们是否要开个会。

E、直接与not连用时不用if

I don’t know whether or not you will go.我不知道你是否去。

F、宾语从句置于句首时不用if

Whether you have met George before, I can’t remember.

我不记得你以前是否见过乔治。

G、在discuss等之后时不用if

We’re discussing whether we’ll go on a picnic.我们在讨论是否要去野餐。

H、当用if会引起歧义时不用if

Please let me know whether you are busy.

I、在动词不定式前用whether不用if

He doesn’t know whether to go or not.他不知道是否去。

J、宾语从句是否定式时不用whether

定义:连词是用来连接词与词、词组与词组或句子与句子、表示某种逻辑关系的虚词。

一般说来,连词有很多是由副词、介词发展而来的;很多副词、介词又是由动词发展而来。
