We use will when we want to predict, or guess, what might happen in the future.

The trip will be fun. It will be safe, too. The tickets will be expensive.

In each of these situations, the speaker doesn't know what will happen in the future, it's only a guess, a prediction. When we ask questions about the future, we invert the subject and the verb:

What will Ineed? Will it be expensive?

Notice how will is contracted:

Don't worry. It'll be fun. She' ll be herethis evening.

Notice that when a plan is mentioned, the speaker uses going to:

I'm going to phone the travel agent's this afternoon.

This suggests that the speaker is talking about a plan she has already made.
