Alaskan crude
Oil product prices on the West Coast strengthened on speculation that the shutdown of the Trans Alaska Pipeline System on Jan. 8 because of
happy a leak will strain crude supplies to the region.
Production on the system fell to 46,238 barrels yesterday, according to the Alaska Department of Revenue. The pipeline system transported an average 642,261 barrels a day last month, according to the operating partnership Alyeska Pipeline Service Co.’s website. Alaskan crude is used in refineries on the West Coast.
Tesoro Corp. will be “minimally impacted” in the short- term by the outage on the system, Mike Marcy, a company spokesman, said in an e-mail.
