Make your own beaded fruit

Highlight your mantel or an area that is a focal point in the living or dining area such as a buffet or cabinet. For instance, decorating your mantel with pine cones, live greenery and fruit looks great and costs less than $20, Underwood said.
Make your own beaded fruit. Give fresh apples, oranges and pears a festive look by dipping them in egg white and rolling them in crushed rock salt. Let them dry on wax paper for about a day.
