For weeks, the effort to repatriate the storied sweater -- worn by Henderson when he scored his famous Summit series-winning goal, but owned by an American collector since 2006 -- generated a buzz across Canada.
In May, when the auction was announced, Henderson said that his old jersey hanging in Canada's Sports Hall of Fame when its new location opens at Canada Olympic Park next year is "the most appropriate place in the world" for it.
But Sheryn Posen, the CEO of Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, said late Tuesday
