现在办公室一般都是人手一台标准计算机：耗电，占空间，高成本。瘦客户端则可以解决这些问题，就是一个小盒子，一本书的大小，耗电几十W，外接键盘和显示器，一般采用ARM处理器。麻雀虽小五脏俱全。自身可实现独立计算，也可连接到中央主机进行集中计算。普通家庭上网，处理文档，看片是没问题的。
