If you're working with WM6 and you have to do a makeimg, assuming you haven't changed any .reg, .dat, or .db files (which are merged as part of the makeimg process), you can cut your makeimg time down significantly if you use these commands instead of calling makeimg:
packagegenerator packages.pkd.xml.merged
dskimage %_TGTPLAT%.cfg.xml %_TGTPLAT%.sku.xml
