In gentoo:
just see the time : rdate pool.ntp.org
synchronize the time : rdate -s pool.ntp.org
But now it always timeout,I don't know why.
A new method:
# emerge ntp
# ntpdate 210.72.145.44
# hwclock --systohc

210.72.145.44 can not be used now!
Debian 6:
# ntpdate-debian
or # ntpdate 114.80.81.1
PS: system setting of time
/etc/localtime : Asia/Shanghai
/etc/timezone
is a link to /usr/share/zoneinfo/Asia/Shanghai
/etc/default/rcS : UTC=yes
