I have tried gentoo-minial-amd64-2006.1 ,but failed,the first problem is :
when I come to this step "mirrorselect -i -o >> /mnt/gentoo/etc/make.conf",very slow,and failed,there is nothing add to the file make.conf.
And the next step "mirrorselect -i -r -o >> /mnt/gentoo/etc/make.conf",I choosed a Asia rsync server,but there is still nothing add to make.conf.
Second problem:
when I update the portage tree:"emerge --sync" or "emerge-webrsync",always time out.
I abort the above,but the third problem come:
When I enter the new environment and will install the kernel"emerge genkernel",failed,showed a lot.There is one important word"can not download genkernel-2.6.18-8-rc",so I download the file manually,and use the command "emerge genkernel",still can not download,I don't know how to deal with,so I can't install gentoo.
But I tried livecd and always burn failed at 99%.
I have installed gentoo,used livecd-amd64-2006.1,strangely succeed.
I enter the gentoo,but bash can not find pppoe command,also adsl.My net is dhcp in the lan,and adsl to the Internet,but I can't link to the Internet.
My gentoo only have coldplug,don't have hotplug.I insert usb an the boot time,and the operating system mount it,but I don't know where to find it.May be a command can mount it to /mnt/usb,please tell me.
In gentoo which I installed by livecd,also can not update portage tree.
I add
GENTOO_MIRRORS=""
SYNC="rsync://mirror.lupaworld.com/gentoo/gentoo-x86-portage"
maunally to the file /etc/make.conf.Then
emerge --sync:
