Linux is a free operation system, a released Linux named Slackware is order by UNIX style-KISS, so I favorite it than others.
When you first use Linux, after install OS, you may need configure your hardware,network, software and so on, following is some configuration files, I think it useful for you :)
Most of configuration file is under /etc folder.
network interface: /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf
hardware configuration: /etc/X11/XORG.conf
