Performing a manual restore of a Microsoft SQL Master Database with Backup Exec 9.x performs a database consistency check (DBCC) even when "DBCC after restore" is set to None.
Details:
This issue occurs if the Consistency check after restore was not set to none or was set to a job level in the VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) Software defaults. To change the application's default settings, follow the steps given below:
Note: The default option is to run a Full check, including indexes.
1. Open Backup Exec
2. On the menu bar, click Tools
3. In the Tools menu, click Options (Figure 1)

4. In the Options - Set Application Defaults window, in the Properties pane, under Job Defaults, click to select SQL (Figure 2)

5. On the right side of the window, in the Restore box, under Consistency check after restore:, click on the down arrow
6. In the drop-down menu, click to select None (Figure 3)

7. Click OK
Note: If the Automate master database restore option (Figure 4) is selected during the restore operation, then the restore will work fine.

To modify the database consistency check option during a restore operation, follow the steps given below:
1. In the Job Monitor window, click Restore (Figure 5)

2. In the Restore Job Properties window, select the SQL database to be restored (Figure 6)

3. In the left pane, under Settings, click to select SQL
4. Under Consistency check after restore:, click on the down arrow and then click to select None (Figure 7)

5. Click the Run Now button to proceed with the restore operation
This issue is resolved in Backup Exec 10.0.
