NTFS is more secure and less limited than FAT32, eg, you cannot create a file over 4GB in a FAT32 disk but will make it in a NTFS one.
How to convert FAT32 disks to NTFS and how backwards? The greatest dificulty is to deal with files named with Chinese. I do not recommend the well-known software Norton PartitionMagic, because it's not so safe for Chinese customers and it onces kill most of my source code data files.
Take converting FAT32 disk X to NTFS for example.
First, after completely setup and backing up your data, click start , click run , type cmd. Second, in the command prompt window, type CHKDSK X: /R to check and repair the disk X. This process wound take about 5~30 minites depending on the total number of the Chinese-named files. Third,in the command prompt window, type CONVERT X:/FS:NTFS ,reboot the os.
NTFS to FAT32 is not recommended.
