Hello, everyone. I majored in computer science,
and I’m interested in network and Artificial Intelligence. Today I’ll talk
about Artificial Brains.
First let us see some robots. When we talk about
Artificial Intelligence, we’ll think of robots. As you can see, robots are
indeed productions of Artificial Intelligence.
You can see in the first picture, there is a
simple robot. It looks like a mini-car. It can run around the room and it can
avoid hitting something else. In the right hand, you can see two Intelligent Toys.
They are made in Japan. Here is the latest robot which acting in a drama, it
can talk with the other actors and it even can smile. This picture is about robotic
rover Spirit who landed on Mars some years ago. It walked around Mars and did
some experiments. In the center of this slice is a robot like human. This is a
picture from the Movie ‘I robot’. It’s about in the future robot maybe
dangerous to us. These are all called robots, and there are more robots even can
work in some place instead of us. But in my opinion, they are not real
Artificial Intelligence. They did not have their own brains. They only do
something we told them and all that they can do has been programmed by the
inventors. The real Artificial Intelligence is that the robot can think of
something by themselves. This is very difficult and can’t be come into realization now.
If
we want the robots can act as us, and we must know how we do when we are
thinking. In our brain, the basic element is neuron. Neuron like this, every
neuron looks like a mini computer. It has input and output and it connects with
others. Then all the neurons connect with each other and form Neural Network. You
can see both of the pictures at the bottom of this slice. The neural network is
so complicated that we can’t understand it clearly now. I think this is the
basic framework of the brains. Then if we want to build robots, and want to the
robots have intelligence, we must do a deep research in Neural Network and
build Artificial brains for them.
Now,
you can see, there’re some key technologies when we build artificial brains. We
must have knowledge. The knowledge is about all the common sense around the
world. We transfer all the knowledge we have known to the robots. Then it
formed a subject called knowledge engineering. Second we must have reversible
computing. The theory has been brought last century, and when we have this
technique we can have our processor working with no heat. You know, now the
chips of the processors is two-dimensional, the reason is that if we build the
processor circuit with three-dimensional the chip will melt because of heat. So
if we have reversible computing then we can build the chip any shape as we
want. In computer hardware industry there is Moore’s Law, it’s about the number
of transistors
that can be placed inexpensively on an integrated circuit has increased exponentially , doubling approximately every two years. According
to this, 10 years later, the minimal unit of storage will be an atom, which
means we can save a bit in an atom. We will product the new hardware with
Nanotechnology, and using Quantum Computing. Now we synthesize all of these
technologies and some other ones we don’t discuss here, then we can get an
Artificial Brains which is three-dimensional with any shape one atom one bit
Quantum Computing and have lots of knowledge. It will more intelligent than us
because it can memorize anything and compute more quickly than you can imagine.
And by then what will happened to us?
It
will be dangerous! They will be so intelligent that they talk to us like now we
talk to stone. It can kill us like we kill a bug. Here is a picture from the
movie Terminator, and I think the robots with Artificial Brains will be real
terminators some years later.

in Artificial Intelligence and especially in Evolvable Hardware. This is not a Science
fiction, and it’s really a book about Artificial Intelligence and Artificial
Brains. In this book the author figured that no more than 50 years, there will
be super robots with Artificial Brains and they are so intelligent that look like
the God. Then we’ll be dangerous.
