Adding an SVC storage subsystem
Before you begin, ensure that you know the following information:
v Common Information Model object manager (CIMOM) server IP or domain name
v CIMOM communication port
v CIMOM user name
v CIMOM password

Note: In order for TotalStorage Productivity Center for Replication to communicate with the SVC storage subsystem, you must permit incoming traffic through port 6120. For every additional SVC storage subsystem that you connect, you must open additional ports in increments from 6120. For example, if you have four SVC storage subsystems connected, you must open ports 6120, 6121, 6122, and 6123. If you do not open those ports, you might experience problems when you issue commands for those sessions.

1. From the My Work panel, select Storage Subsystems. This starts the Add Subsystem Wizard.
2. Select the radio button next to SVC (SAN Volume Controller) and click Next.
3. Enter the CIMOM IP address or domain, port, user name, and password for the subsystem. Then, click Next. The table shows the CIMOM, not the storage subsystems behind it. To continue adding subsystems, you must repeat the Add Subsystem Wizard.
4. Choose the subsystem location. You can pick an existing location, or identify a new location. Then, click Next.
5. When the results are displayed, click Finish.

Metro Global Mirror for the DS8000:
Metro Global Mirror is a three-site continuous copy solution for the DS8000 that combines Metro Mirror synchronous copy and Global Mirror asynchronous copy into one session. In this combined session, the Metro Mirror target is the Global Mirror source. This combination allows HyperSwap scenarios between the Metro Mirror pairs and disaster recovery scenarios at the Global Mirror target. When the intermediate site is at a bunker location, this configuration also allows for near zero data loss at larger distances.
