The more time you spend playing the game and the more you play, the more likely you'll begin to choose certain classes over other classes. The most enjoyable part of the fun in playing Dark and Darker as a group involves choosing a class you enjoy and then finding two players who can make up for the weak points. There aren't any bad classes to be found in the game, only a few which require more time to master in comparison to other classes.
Gandalf, Merlin, and Glinda the Good. The Wizard class is among the most difficult to master in the game, with players with limited spells and mana over everything else. It's a great class to play especially when you have melee players to defend you, but it's not the most ideal start-up option due to the character's limited level of physical health or damage.
The Rogue is a fantastic class to play if you're planning on entering and trying to collect as much loot as you can before making an immediate escape. The character is low in immunity to magic and health and therefore, entering into combat against an entire group is almost an automatic death sentence. The character is able to, however pick locks with no locks, disarm traps and interact with items like chests quicker, making it a great choice for someone who's focused on loot.
Although it's certainly one of the most enjoyable classes, it's severely restricted by the ability to use ranged weapons, which could be disastrous if you're surrounded. Utilizing traps can aid, but this class is best played with an opponent who is melee to protect you from adversaries that are threatening you. The Ranger can be a great benefit to a team that has the Campfire which replenishes spells and health and gives your team a boost when they travel.
The class is enhanced by the fact that it includes healing capabilities which the participant can utilize for themselves as well as the other players members of their squad. Even though they can have many healing spells for the team, they are not unlimited and should be used with caution. This class can be played for a player on their own due to the melee combat skills and the added damage to the various undead in Dungeons.
Tank classes are typically beneficial because they allow players to charge into any situation and cause catastrophic damage while not worrying about their health. The Barbarian is an excellent class for players looking for an incredibly powerful resistance to magic and the ability to do massive destruction. However, this class is slow and it will be slower to get chests open, and then move around the hallways.
