SymptomsCharacters / text on the buttons in the Database Console / Grid Console user interface pages are not displayed correctly, when the browser language is set to Chinese. The characters on the buttons appear as small squares:
The font files required for displaying these characters are missing in the ORACLE_HOME from where the Database Control / Grid Control is installed. The missing font files are:
ALBANWTJ.ttf
ALBANWTK.ttf
ALBANWTS.ttf
ALBANWTT.ttf
- For Database control, this has been investigated in the : CHARACTERS ON DBCONSOLE BUTTON ARE NOT CORRECT WITH CHINESE LANGUAGE
- For Grid Control, the issue is still under investigation in the internal Bug : BUTTONS IN CONSOLE STILL SHOW SMALL SQUARES IF BROWSER LANGUAGE IS CHINESE
Solution For Database ControlIt was found during the bug investigation that the necessary font files are present in the Database software but are not copied to the Database ORACLE_HOME, at the time of Database installation, if the Language is not chosen as Chinese (or any other Asian character set for which the issue occurs).
Solution:
If the Database Control needs to be accessed in the Chinese language, ensure that the language at the time of Database software installation has been appropriatetly.
Workaround:
1. In the Database Software, extract the following files using winzip or any other unzip utility (which recognises the jar format):
Disk1/stage/Components/oracle.bali.displayFonts/9.0.2.0.0/1/DataFiles/display.1.1.jar
Disk1/stage/Components/oracle.bali.displayFonts/9.0.2.0.0/1/DataFiles/display.2.1.jar
Disk1/stage/Components/oracle.bali.displayFonts/9.0.2.0.0/1/DataFiles/display.3.1.jar
Disk1/stage/Components/oracle.bali.displayFonts/9.0.2.0.0/1/DataFiles/display.4.1.jar
2. Extracing the above will result in the following font files:
ALBANWTK.TTF
ALBANWTT.TTF
ALBANWTS.TTF
ALBANWTJ.TTF
3. Copy the above four font files to the
4. Stop and re-start the Database Control after the above:
cd
emctl stop dbconsole
emctl start dbconsole
5. Connect the Database Console from a browser and verify that the buttons show the correct text.
In 11.2.0.2 Database version, all the font files will be copied to the Database ORACLE_HOME, irrespective of the language chosen during the installation.
