The device paths shown for each system type below are how Solaris recognizes the device. At the Open Boot PROM (OBP), the device name may be slightly different. Typically, the OBP uses `disk' and 'cdrom' aliases for the boot disk and cdrom drive, where Solaris may use a different name/alias for the same device. The overall device path is the same for both OBP and Solaris, the difference is seen at the device position at the end of the path.

Dual PCI SCSI cards:
If you have such a card installed in your system, the device path will look like the following.
Lets say, the card is installed in a Enterprise 450 machine:
PCI Slot 1 /pci@6,4000/@4,* <- this refers to the first VHDCI scsi connector
/pci@6,4000/@4,1 <- this refers to the second VHDCI scsi connector
When the card is installed in its pci slot:
Internal:
- the left connector (close to the back of the system) is controller @4 (first controller)
- the right connector is controller @4,1 (second controller)
External (when standing at the back of the system):
- the left connector is controller @4
- the right connecter is controller @4,1
Internal Only Top
