I downloaded and installed the toaster code here and
its working fine for local deliveries.
But i want to be able to have this one machine as a
front end (scanner/filter) for all main to one of the
domains I have.
I set the smtproutes to the correct setting and it
forwards over to the correct host with no problem
after scannign the email.
But, chkuser does not seem to be working at all.
I put a copy of the domain in the
/home/vpopmail/domain  directly MANUALLY as suggested
in on of the other posts on the list.  I also have the
.qmail-default file set correctly for
bounce-no-mailbox also.
I have vpopmail set up for MySQL being fed from
another server.  Permissions are correct.  IMAP works
perfectly, yet I can not get chkuser to validate a
user no matter what I do.
I manually ran  qmail-smtp and tried to   rcpt to
command to an invalid email address on the remote
server and it ACCEPTED it.  Its supposed to look it up
and bounce it.
Anyone have any ideas?  Do I need to replicate the
datafiles from the remote server to the local server?
I should not need to do that.  Like I mentioned, IMAP
on the new server works fine!
any help is appreciated.
thanks
Nitch.

Hi,
The scan and forward domain has to appear as a regular domain except not
in the virtualdomains file.
It should be in the control/(more)rcpthosts and users/assign file.
If it is just in (more)rcpthosts then chkuser will not see it as a local
domain and not look it up.
So basically it seems you just need to add it to users/assign file and
run qmail-newu

Rick

Thanks for the quick response.
Doing this DID reject the bad user name in the domain
as is should...
In testing, I also removed the
/var/vpopmail/domains/[domain name]/
and the .qmail-default  file.
Do I need this ?
I have the smtproutes set correctly so I am assuming I
need to redo the domain directoy with the
.qmail-default set up.
thanks for the hint!

OK.. I got it!  WOW
In the /var/qmail/users/assign file,
when you put the line below in
+somedomain.com-:othermachine.test.com:89:89:/home/vpopmail/domains/somedomain.com:-::
the second part "othermachine.test.com" is NOT the
local or the filtering machine, but the actual
computer where the domain users and mail actually goes
to.

wow... thats sharp.  It works now!  thanks !!!!
