Goal

Why does the Export Functionality Fail to Download Excel Data in Internet Explorer?

Solution

The browser settings are incorrect. Check the following:
1. In Oracle Applications navigate to Install - Viewer Options
The Viewer Option should be set to:
File Format: Excel
Mime Type: application/vnd.ms.excel
Description: Microsoft Excel
Allow Native Client Encoding is enabled.

2. Open My Computer:
Check the File type
Navigate to Tools - Folder Options
In the File Types tab insure both the .csv and .tsv file types are available.

3. In the Internet Explorer Browser:
Check the downloads setting
a) Open Internet Explorer and choose Tools-->Internet Options
b) Click on the Security Tab
c) Click the Custom Level button
d) Scroll down to the "Downloads" options
e) Enable the option "Automatic prompting for file downloads"
f) Enable the option "File Download"
