You guys are pros at this whole sale-shopping thing, and even if you aren’t,, you’ve probably picked up on a few trick in the past week. One of the most obvious things you might have noticed is that in luxury fashion, the average discount you can expect on first markdowns is 30%. It’s the default that almost all major retailers go to, both online and in stores, with a few items reaching 40% or 50% to pull in hopeful shoppers and move the most overstocked items quickly. Moda Operandi has never been a typical retailer, though, which means that the (possibly inaugural?) Moda Operandi Boutique Sale goes above and beyond – everything is at least 50% off, with plenty of discounts reaching 70%. We’ve gone straight to second markdowns, more or less. The selection of bags is great if you like clutches – the Marchesa Lily Clutch above is available for $990, down from $2,,995 – but I think that the shoes are really where it’s at. Either way, it can feel at times like the entire site has been marked down drastically, which is exactly how you want to feel when it comes time for a sale.
