Dunno, but I'd vote for leather if you're in a suit, bracelet for most anything else except sports when it's rubber strap time. As to your choice, with that budget and that style preference, you've got a lot of options. Check every "What aRe yoU Wearing (WRUW)" post here for a month and you'll probably find about ten contenders. Then post the list (borrow pictures, this is very important, PICS) and ask us which one's best! As a Seiko fan, take a look at them, they almost certainly make a model you'll like. That's why I collect that particular brand virtually any style of watch is available all from one company, a company that luckily happens to be fanatically devoted to quality and value. If the watch has a matching bracelet, you'll generally save cash buying the watch on bracelet from the get go rather than later regretting you bought on strap and having to buy the bracelet separately. With that being said, some people strongly prefer one type to another, so there is no wrong answer. I feel leather strap is most certainly both dressier and classier, to use the adjectives already introduced in the thread. Metal will also be heavier than leather, which could be good (balance) or bad (fatigue). If you wanted both options I would opt to find one on the bracelet and source a leather band later. They are generally cheaper and many companies make great leather straps that are same quality or better quality than OEM. Generally, for bracelets on a higher end luxury watch, you'd want it to be OEM or match since the design and quality will match the rest of the watch. As an example in prices, a Breitling leather strap might cost $200 or so but a Breitling pilot bracelet will cost you upwards of $1,000.
