***The One Step That Ensures Personal Happiness
I love getting together with positive people. The energy they emit is much like fuel for that inspirational fire to prospects around them.
Years ago, in a early post-college job, I overheard an older co-worker ask another much younger associate why he was always in an excellent mood. Even today, the solution still sticks beside me. When the question was posed, the younger guy responded, “I have a job to accomplish. I can be miserable and do it or I can be happy and do it. Either way, I still have to complete it. So, I choose to get happy.”
That could it have been.
Simple, direct, and powerful.
As a little daughter man starting out in the corporate world, that moment a tremendous impact on me. Here was a contemporary who embodied the sort of peer whose characteristics I wanted to emulate.
Years after I left that job, I ran into him eventually. He told me that a new Vice President had occur board along with the old place had become quite different. The atmosphere at the office was, in their words, terrible. Nonetheless, he'd recently left our old company as they was finding it difficult to get happy. I heard both a sadness and a familiar happiness as part of his voice.
The sadness seemingly comes from the fact that an enjoyable place to work had degenerated into an office building of negativity, distrust, and belittlement. His happiness, however, was genuinely more personable. He had made a decision to start his own business. After some pros and cons, he started doing very well. Most importantly, he was happy.
Isn't that what life really comes down to?
Being happy?
Choosing being happy?
It's a choice. It may not continually be easy. There are always going being setbacks and challenges; but, whenever we can face them a positive attitude, then overcoming them gets to get much more obtainable. Let's try and adopt the attitude of my old co-worker. To realize no matter what task is, we tackle it with positivity, and choose to be happy while doing so.
When have you ever looked at a situation, smiled, and chosen to get happy — even if the events unfolding before you decide to weren't what you planned or anticipated?
