Dimitris Christofi was responsible for both of his team's goals, doubling in the space of 28 minutes the goal tally he had accrued over 33 previous caps. It was the high point of the 26-year-old's career, and indeed of his nation's recent football history, and his hope now is that it can be surpassed in the weeks and months ahead.
Speaking exclusively to FIFA.com, Christofi said: "That was one of the most important games I have ever played, although my wish is to have more like it in the future. We were up against a very strong team and we knew that.
But we also believed in ourselves. We always felt that with that belief, and a little luck, we could win the game. "Good fortune, and good goalkeeping, did play its part in the final minute when Antonis Giorgallides saved a penalty from the hosts' Miralem Pjanic.
