After initially majoring in math at St. John's University, it appears Metta World Peace knows a thing or two about numbers. He might not show it when he shoots a contested three pointer and hopes that it improves his 34.2% career mark from three point range. Thousands of meals, Easter baskets and shoes will be handed out on Good Friday at the Los Angeles Mission on skid row. Mission, at 5th and Wall streets. Celebrities, local leaders and other volunteers will help serve about 3,500 meals, KTLA TV reported. More than 1,000 hand packed Easter baskets will be handed out to kids, and adults will receive hygiene kits. Foot washing, which has spiritual and practical significance, will be provided by the Los Angeles Christian Health Centers.

Two doctors from Keck Medical Center at USC set the record straight on preparing for and recovering from a marathon. They talked with The Times and answered readers' questions on Monday. Michael Levi volunteered at the Venice Family Clinic, he saw one aspect of the lives of the poor and homeless with a podiatrist's eye: foot problems caused by poverty. "I saw a lot of patients who had poor shoe gear, and some not wearing socks," says Levi, 33, a Santa Monica podiatrist who founded the Venice clinic's foot care unit in 1988. karaoke scenes
