Of those three, doubtless the Atlantean Citadel will be the toughest, as not every captain decides to sail his or her ship into those deep waters. Some prefer harvesting triks in the shallows instead. But every Cursed Isles voyage aims to visit the island, and I've yet to see an officer brave the Haunted Seas without aiming for a graveyard. So this should be no problem for you, assuming you can get yourself jobbed aboard just such a voyage.
Now, usually the other limited edition item in any given month would be a ship, like last month's Bardic Class Sloop. But this month, there appears to be none, or at least none that's been announced thus far. (No, don't be silly; the Emperor Class Sloop was an April Fool's joke, remember?)
No, instead, the Ringers are debuting a brand new limited time offer: the Gold Box. That's right. As though we didn't have enough to sink our pieces of eight into, here comes yet another tempting treat for the price of 25,000 PoE on subscription oceans and 12 Doubloons everywhere else.
As usual, all the details are on Yppedia. But here's a summary:
They work kind of like Black Boxes, in that once you purchase them you can either give them away to another pirate or open them to claim the prize inside: special trinkets that may be exchanged at the Trading Post for rewards, furniture, chroma, wearables, and other unique and rare items. But where Black Box prizes tended towards the color black and a roguish theme, Gold Box prizes are likely to be gold in color (who would have guessed?) and gilded in nature. The rarest prizes of all are unicorn pets and dragon familiars.
One of the prizes you might get (a 10% chance according to Yppedia) is a Golden Piggy Bank. This item files under the Miscellaneous section of your Booty. Crack it open to gain the PoE inside! How much? At least 20,000 PoE. At most who knows?
Gold Boxes are available at any Bank. (Yes! Now there is an actual reason to visit a Bank!) The Ringers have installed a new Gold Safe furniture item at every Bank. Interact with it to buy yourself a Gold Box.
Does that mean that limited edition ships will only be available every odd numbered month, when Gold Boxes are not? Well, hold on there we've got no reason to assume that. Sure, no limited edition ship has been announced yet for April 2012 but Yppedia isn't listing this month as a "No ship" month just yet, either. Wait and see, that's the wise course.
And hoard up your PoE, of course. There's Gold Boxes to be bought!
Because Puzzle Pirates Examiner never misses an opportunity to eddify you, today's photo features a piece of security history: a combo lock safe from the Warth Baum Safe and Lock Company, in operation under that name from 1870 to 1893. This particular specimen was photographed by Michael Styne, who shared it on Flickr under a Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 2.0 Generic License. Apparently it the safe used to be in the building where he worked. It probably did not contain Gold Boxes.
