Over the last 6 months I've used this hotel twice for 2 3 nights business trips to Geneva. The location makes it a good mid market choice (GBP200 250pn) for Geneva despite outdated interior design and furniture (more like sleeping in an antique shop than a three star hotel). This time booked double room via American Express but got assigned a single room with small Queen sized bed without consultation. When I complained (after waiting around for another 20 minutes as they were busy with other guests), the front desk staff (name withheld but available to Accor) mentioned that as I was only staying one night and was only one person there should be little reason to complain; a single room should be adequate. Having booked and pre paid for a double room, I insisted that this is what I should receive. The staff's reply was that the hotel was overbooked but when I suggested that I should talk about this issue with American Express, the staff quickly agreed to move me into a double room (although walls painted a shocking pink and worse than the other rooms I stayed during my previous stays). Too tired to complain but have taken the trouble to warn future travellers here.

Room Tip: Check the room first and if not happy then request to see another better room as quality does vary i.

Dear Guest,Thanks for taking time to publish your review and give us the opportunity to improve our service. We are very sorry that your experience at the hotel did not meet entirely your expectations. Our establishment is an old style hotel but with modern amenities. A refurbishment is already planned by the end of this year. All rooms, the lobby, the breakfast room and our restaurant will be renovated. Check out and check in time as the hotel is 12:00. We would like to apologize that you did not get immediatly the room requested. It was a fair walk from the train station; if you have a heavy suitcase, better to take a cab, but otherwise the walk is about 10 15 minutes and the hotel is easy to find. My biggest complaint is that they don't have a gym in the hotel, and this was not clear on their website. They initially gave me a very small room but when I asked, they moved me to a bigger room for the same price). The rooms (especially the carpet and curtains and closets) are not very modern and could definitely use some upgrading, but the bathrooms are modern, clean, and well equipped. Most of the time the person at the front desk was an intern who was unmotivated and not too helpful and gave useless directions/instructions/tourist advice. But her supervisor was great.

If you want a modern hotel with smooth surfaces, mirrors lots of nicely polished chrome then do not book this hotel!! If however you can appreciate a slightly dated hotel with its well worn furniture which gives it real quirky feel then this is the place for you!! Excellent location, a 2 minute walk to the lake and a quick stroll over any of the bridges will take you to the shopping area (take plenty of money!!!). Just outside the rear exit is a large Starbucks if you want a quick caffeine fix. The train/bus/tram station is a 5 minute walk the hotel will give you a free pass for travel during your stay. The staff in the hotel were friendly helpful, the room was immaculately clean (it did smell slightly fusty when we first arrived) and the bathroom was spotless. The bed was huge and very very comfortable. I cannot find fault with this hotel when taking into account the price paid to stay here for 3 nights. The hotel staff advised me that they will be making some improvements later in the year, I only hope that doesn't take away from its charm.Troublesome front desk lets reliable but dated hotel down
