Aircrafts were first offered in the earlier twenties; the first one to enter the amateur market was the Baby Ace airplane. During those times, the interest for such plane was quite limited mainly because there was no money courtesy of the great depression. After that, there were the 40s which experienced plenty of wars and there were thousands of pilots coming all of a sudden during the World War II flying war planes. The war finally ended and the started yearning for jet planes of their own. They started looking for aircrafts for sale. Amateur and antique aircrafts quickly got popular in this period and in 1953, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) was founded.
Till 1950, aircrafts were primarily made of wood, cloth or steel tube. However, companies building small aircrafts were struggling a lot since there was a lot of litigation going around. Home builders of these aircrafts have a lot of ideas now, they can choose from various designs, material and construction techniques. Aircraft makers can now extensively use their imagination while making the aircrafts.
