France| is a large nation by comparison to England, over twice the area. It is extremely diverse and has many various landscapes and extremes of weather. Snow capped mountains within the Massive Central, Grenoble and the Pyrenees mountains, give way to lush, green fields. The south of France is notably drier and warmer, there's a marked difference primarily because of climate between a city for example Bordeaux, Toulouse or Carcasonne to Paris, Lille or Calais. Within the south of France the lifestyle seems slower, more 'laid back', individuals have the time to sit and discuss, or maybe share a coffee before carrying on with their daily lives. Primarily grown in this region are fruit and vegetables, such as, oranges, figs, kiwis and naturally grapes, flourish in the heat southern climate. The Atlantic coast has always been known for its stormy seas, and is a favorite with surfers, sailors and fishermen alike. From south of Bordeaux to the tip of Normandy there are a lot of very quaint fishing villages which have become holiday hot spots. English visitors usually get pleasure from visiting Britanny and Normandy, which can be compared to a French 'Cornwall' from the viewpoint of local weather and landscape... The only bother after all is the weather. It may be glorious sunshine, however similarly it may be chilly and torrential rain, one of the disadvantages of booking a holiday in the north of France.Dordogne in the south west of France has often been a favorite vacation spot of the British tourist, in fact many have come to stay and enjoy the lengthy hot summers and relaxed way of life. Such a marked difference from the nine to five existence we regularly discover ourselves trapped in.Dordogne has rather a lot to give the British tourist, a flavour of the french 'facon de vivre', the goumet cuisine, the wine, stunning countryside for lengthy stress-free walks, and of course those long scorching summer time days that we frequently wish so much for when in England.Renting or buying a property in Dordogne is surprisingly inexpensive. Regional flights by the budget airlines can supply fares from one to twenty 5 pounds for those who keep an eye out for particular offers. The tunnel has helped to reduce car journies by upto hours, and your vacation spot can simply be reached in a day's travelling, though many people choose to stop off and enjoy the hospitality of a gite en route. The Dordone is filled with lakes and to some extent a fisherman's paradise, individuals keen on fishing journey from all over Europe to enjoy the thrill of landing a sixty pound Carp... not everybody's 'cup of tea' it has to be said. The region is well known for its controversial pate 'Foie Gras', an excellent smooth and expensive pate that is made from the diseased liver of geese or ducks. Also it is the area of the 'Truffle', the fungi which are found beneath the soil near certain species of trees. Truffles are very expensive in France and their location is definately a highly guarded secret.
