During the LAB practicing of CCNA CCNP or CCIE, have you ever broke the serial port by up side down the cable..., by your friend or yourself?
Fixing the serial port on the Cisco router could probably cost you another router instead!
Put this port protector on and screw it well, even you break the protector you can simply replace another one or continue to use the original serial port (But with Careful!)
